LIMA, THE CITY OF VICEROYS

More than 400 years ago, it was named after the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro. Today, that same city that emerged on the lands of the indigenous chief Taulichusco, is a metropolis of more than 9 million inhabitants, which proudly preserves its convents and colonial mansions, symbols of its ancient and noble tradition. For this reason, we have prepared this tour that will take us to the best sites of the capital.

We will head towards the Historic Center of Lima, a space where the history of this country has developed. Founded by the Spanish in 1535. We will walk through the streets with the greatest colonial history and we will be able to discover the beautiful viceregal architecture on which this city was based.

2. Huaca Pucllana

We will get to know the Huaca Pucllana, an archaeological site with more than 1,300 years of antiquity, located in the district of Miraflores, with a panoramic view. This place will tell us the stories of the first inhabitants of this ancient city.

3. Parque del Amor

A beautiful park in Miraflores with a view of the Pacific Ocean, where we will find a large sculpture of a couple kissing and mosaic walls with phrases dedicated to love.

4. Church of San Francisco and the Catacombs

The Church of San Francisco is located in the Historic Center of Lima and is one of the most emblematic and touristic sites in the city. It is a tangible example of the architecture and art of the viceregal period in the country.

The construction of this architectural jewel was carried out by the Franciscan order and was completed in 1774, after a century of work. The complex is a monumental and architectural ensemble unique in the world, consisting of the churches of San Francisco, La Soledad, and del Milagro, with their respective cloisters, courtyards, catacombs and outbuildings.
